Designed by famed California architect and landscape architect William Krisel AIA and built by the Alexander Construction Company, this historic gem is situated in the architecturally rich Twin Palms area of Palm Springs. Great location on a quiet street. Enjoy the peacefulness of desert living in the large, secluded private back yard with mountain views. Or, put on your 50’s bathing suit and live the dream with poolside cocktails. Quiet, peaceful, yet close to the action.
Restored in collaboration with William Krisel, this lovely home presents “the future as it was conceived of” in the 1950s — with the contemporary amenities of today. This home has been featured during Palm Springs Modernism Week multiple times and appears in William Krisel’s Palm Springs: The Language of Modernism (2016).
Landscaping includes indigenous cactus and geometric stone and plant work designed by architect William Krisel in 1957 and updated by him, out of retirement, in 2012. Grapefruit, orange and lemon trees are ready for guests to enjoy. The over-sized salt-pool and spa are joined by a small waterfall and includes many pool accessories such as water mattresses, pool noodles, goggles, flip flops and outdoor shower as well as patio furniture, 3 sun umbrellas, lounge and eating areas, gas BBQ and 2 bicycles. From the secluded backyard you can sun and swim or watch the romantic sunsets framed by the San Jacinto mountains towering up from the West.
The house is a perfect example of indoor-outdoor living with glass sliders and the architectural sun flaps that this design is famous for. Guests are greeted by a life-size photograph of Carmen Miranda and several photographs and architectural drawings of other houses in Palm Springs designed by William Krisel.
Guests can enjoy the modern open concept kitchen, living and dining area with seating for 6 or more, with gas fireplace, fabulous era furnishings as well as many modern accessories including flatscreen TVs and free Wifi, microwave, dishwasher, fridge containing filtered water, gas stove, dining linens and much more.
